Think California, Arizona, Mexico and the Mediterranean Sea! This home has warm, earthy tones, sun-kissed textures and a laid back vibe that’s impossible to resist. This kitchen isn’t just about the concrete countertops, it is a whole mood.

One of the huge advantages of concrete is that it is not pieced or glued together, it can be a monolithic piece like this 2” thick double waterfall white concrete island. It is important for the artisan to understand the static and hydraulic pressure when pouring concrete into the form of something this large and in one piece. Then there is the installation to work out, this monolithic concrete island was craned into the house on a cart designed for moving large pieces. This island weighed over 900 pounds!

The rest of this kitchen has what we call “concrete legs” to match the huge monolithic double waterfall island. Artisan concrete countertops ensure that every piece in this home matches the vibe.

The master bathroom boasts a huge floating drop faced concrete vanity with integral double trough integral sinks. We made the vanity top to match the mood of the bathroom that has a large concrete bathtub and tadelakt shower.

In the basement the dry bar has handmade arches that we crafted for this space as well as more concrete countertops with legs. The arch trend is taking the design world by storm right now and this home was well above that curve!

Concrete isn’t just for countertops, concrete fireplace surrounds make a lasting and impactful statement in a home. When we discussed the design, we thought of the arches in the dry bar and we wanted to ensure we matched the Mediterranean vibe of the house. We almost went with the natural white concrete but when the homeowner suggested a terra cotta color, we felt a symphony of emotions and sensations coming together in perfect harmony. The terra cotta color combined with the arched design, gave a feeling of alignment and satisfaction. It’s like finding the missing piece of a puzzle or stumbling upon a hidden treasure. Yes! Terra cotta was the perfect color!

This terra cotta concrete fireplace surround is a stunning marriage of tradition and innovation that’s sure to set your heart ablaze. You can also view the entire project on Instagram @thewoodlandsabode
